1 – Cucumbers
Cucumbers are one of the most commonly used treatments for dark circles. This is because they have mild astringent and skin-lightening properties. They can also soothe your eyes, making you feel more refreshed.
Cut a fresh cucumber into thick slices. Place them in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to chill them. Put the slices over your eyes, and leave them on for about 10 minutes. Be sure to wash your eyes with warm water after. This treatment should be done twice a day, for one week.
If you do not want to use a fresh cucumber, you can use cucumber juice. Combine equal parts of cucumber juice and lemon juice, and shake well. Using a cotton ball, apply the mixture to the dark circles. Leave the mixture on for 15 minutes, before washing it off with warm water. Like the fresh cucumber treatment, this treatment should be done twice a day, for one week.
2 – Almond Oil
Almond oil is a great ingredient to help fade dark circles. Almond oil is excellent because it will be gentle on the delicate skin around your eyes.
Before going to bed, apply a small amount of almond oil on your dark circles, and massage it into your skin. Leave the oil on overnight. In the morning, wash it off with cold water. You should use this treatment daily until your dark circles have faded.
3 – Raw Potatoes
Raw potatoes have natural bleaching agents, which will help to lighten up dark circles around the eyes. They will also help with any puffiness.
Grate two raw potatoes to extract the juice from the potato. Soak up the juice with a cotton ball, and place it over your eyes. Allow the cotton ball to sit on your closed eyes for 10 to 15 minutes, and rinse your eyelids with cool water. This treatment can be done once or twice a day for a few weeks.
If you do not have the time to grate the potatoes for their juice, you can slice the potato into thick slices, and cover your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes.
4 – Tomatoes
Like potatoes, tomatoes have bleaching properties that can lighten up dark circles a great deal.
Combine one teaspoon of tomato juice with ½ teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your dark circles, and allow it to sit for 10 minutes. Be sure to wash it completely from your skin. You should use this remedy twice a day for a few weeks. If you do not have any lemon juice in the home, tomato juice alone will work as well.
5 – Rose Water
Rose water has a very soothing effect on tired eyes. It is also for toning the skin.
Soak a pair of cotton eye pads in the rose water for a few minutes. Set the pads on your closed eyes, and leave them on for at least 15 minutes. You can use this remedy twice a day, for a few weeks or until the dark circles have lightened.
6 – Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is full of vitamin C, which contains skin lightening properties.
Apply lemon juice to your dark circles using a cotton ball. Leave the juice on your eyes for 10 minutes, and rinse it off completely. You can use this method once a day for two weeks.
7 – Tea Bags
Tea bags are full of antioxidants and caffeine. These are great for getting rid of dark circles under the eyes as well as puffiness. Tea bags will shrink your blood vessels and reduce the fluid retention below the eyes.
Place two black tea bags or green tea bags in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Place the bags over your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. After you remove the tea bags, be sure to wash your face thoroughly. You can use this treatment twice a day for three weeks.
8 – Coconut Oil
Coconut oil will lighten up dark circles and will keep the skin under the eyes smooth and wrinkle free.
Massage the coconut oil under the eyes. Allow it to set for a few hours before washing it off. Use this treatment three times a day for a few months.
9 – Turmeric
Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that are excellent for minimizing dark circles. After using it, you will notice that the skin around your eyes is softer.
Combine 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder with pineapple juice. It will create a paste. Apply it to your dark circles, and leave it on for about 10 minutes, and wash it off with a damp cloth. This treatment can be done daily until you are happy with the results.
#10 Cold Compress
The cold water in the compress will cause the blood vessels under the eyes to constrict. This will reduce the puffiness and dark circles.
Soak a washcloth in cold water, and apply over your eyes for several minutes.
