Ringworm is not a condition that is caused by worms rather it is a fungal infection that is known by the term dermatophytosis. This skin infection can cause a wide range of effects like subtle lesions to a significant amount of hair loss. Other effects include: inflammation, itching and scaling.
This occurs mostly in young cats and cats that have long hair while it can also be transmitted from other animals in the environment, including the environment itself. Ringworm is an infection that is very contagious and it can easily spread from one cat to the next. How to Get Rid of Ringworm in Cats with Medicine
If you go to your veterinarian, s/he will most probably prescribe you with either of the two options: a systemic approach or a topical 
one. The method that is prescribed will totally depend on the severity of the ringworm in cats. The systemic treatment involves you using a liquid called Itrafungal.
This treatment is used for about three weeks and after that, you give no treatment as the chemical starts to build up and take action. The topical treatment requires you to shampoo your cat with a shampoo made from chlorhexide and miconazole. This also depends on the condition of the ringworm in cats. In both conditions, however, it has been specified that you cut down the length of the cat’s hair.
How to Get Rid of Ringworm in Cats with Disinfection
In order to get rid of ringworm in cats, treating your cat will not be enough; you have to disinfect the environment as well. Set up an area that you have cleaned and disinfected completely using bleach or any other anti-microbial cleaner.
During this, you have to quarantine the cat until the area is not entirely cleaned and clear any of signs of ringworm. Clean all areas of your house that cat has come to interaction with while s/he was infected by ringworm. Clean any toys, the cat’s bedding, blanket etc and dispose of anything that you may have high suspicion about.
